Can CBD gummies get you high?
Can CBD Gummies Get You High? My personal experience
When I first started using CBD, I knew very little of the subject. I knew that it was made from cannabis and that was about it.
I also knew that cannabis was related to marijuana and that marijuana gets you high. Since then, I’ve learned that CBD is not THC and it does not get you high.
In fact, it does the opposite of what THC does in many cases.
Since working at Buddii, I’ve tried many different types of CBD products and CBD gummies happen to me one of my favorites due to ease of use and pleasant taste.
I’ve taken hundreds of gummies and I can unequivocally say with the utmost confidence that using CBD gummies has never once got me high.
So in answer to your question, “Can CBD gummies get you high?”
No, CBD gummies cannot get you high.
To better explain why CBD gummies do not get you high, I’ll go over some quick facts about CBD.
Cannabidiol, colloquially known as CBD, is one of the hundreds of cannabinoids that is found in the cannabis plant.
The cannabis plant has many forms but the two most commonly known are:
Marijuana and Hemp
As you can see, there are stark differences between the two.
CBD that is used in CBD gummies are extracted from hemp plants and not marijuana plants.
There is little to no THC in the hemp that is used to make the CBD.
Because of this, there is very little chance that you will get high from a CBD product.
Now you may be thinking since there is a little bit of THC isn’t it possible that I can get high if I take enough?
Well, lets delve a little bit deeper.
All CBD products are made from some type of CBD extract.
CBD extracts from hemp come in two forms.
- Oil Extracts
The differences between the two will give you more peace of mind as to whether CBD gummies will get you high.
Oil extracts are made from the entire hemp plants. You are getting all the components of the plant including the other cannabinoids like THC. These are called full-spectrum extracts.
Isolates are an isolated form of hemp extract. This means that the extract is broken down so that there is only CBD left in the extract. There are no other materials from the plant. CBD is isolated from everything else in the extract, hence the name.
CBD isolates contain 0% THC. None whatsoever. While full-spectrum extracts may contain small traces of THC.
So what does all this have to do with gummies?
Well, often CBD gummies are usually made with CBD isolate. By using an isolate-based CBD extract, you are only getting CBD and nothing else.
So yes, absolutely zero THC and zero chances of getting high with CBD gummies.
Gummies that are made with full-spectrum extracts do have small trace amounts of THC but it is such a low amount that it is negligible.
To this day, I have never gotten high even with taking gummies made from full-spectrum extracts.
You can always opt for the CBD isolate-based gummies for additional peace of mind if you are still uneasy.
A common question we get from people that are worried about getting high when using CBD products is:
“Will CBD show up on a drug test?”
This is a very controversial question in the industry and many people will tell you that it won’t show up on a drug. While others have said that they have failed drug tests while on CBD.
So who’s telling the truth?
Honestly, they both are telling the truth. Let me explain.
CBD will not show up on a drug…this is true.
It is because most drug tests do not test for CBD. It won’t show up because it is not tested for in the first place.
So how is it that people have failed drug tests while taking CBD?
Well…it is because of the THC. Drug tests are looking for THC — the psychoactive component in marijuana that gets you high.
Even though there is less than 0.3% THC in hemp, it is still present.
Unfortunately, sometimes manufacturers aren’t consistent in their manufacturing processes or testing and higher amounts of THC may sneak through.
This is why it is important to buy your CBD products from reputable brands and retailers.
Another reason may be that the person that failed the test is taking a ridiculous amount of CBD oil. I’m talking on the scale of thousands of mg of CBD per day. It’s a highly unlikely event but certainly possible.
Unfortunately, there are many unknowns as to why a person may be showing a high enough THC content to test positive.
CBD is still a relatively new product to the market and there is still a lot to be learned about its effects and how it is made.
Manufacturers are also getting better each day with their operations and I have no doubt that as they become more adept, this will be less of an issue.
CBD gummies will not get you high. I have not heard one incident of anyone getting high from a gummy or failing a drug test. It’s mainly the CBD oils where people have tested positive.
Personally, I find that it provides good relaxation.
If you are still reluctant because of the THC, then get gummies that are isolate based and you will be fine.
